CHRISTMAS 2017

As I write this, morning is just peeking through the timber that separates our wee cove from the closest neighbors. As though the night was rowdy, a rim of red sun, like a bloodshot eye, opens a bit, then closes, and a new day hides its face under a gray blanket of winter.

Christmas this year was bittersweet. Bitter--only because we all realized that the days of everyone being able to be home and together at the same time are very soon to be gone. The grands are growing up and spreading their wings. A good and natural process, but it will make a difference.

Two of the grands have moved this past year.  Rachel (the one in front) is now living and working in Austin, Texas.  Leah is living and working in Dillon, Montana. Rachel's gift to the family this year was to purchase the tickets for Leah to fly home.

Four oldest grands. L-R: Kirsten, Seth, Rachel, Leah

Leah and Kirsten
These two have been best friends since birth. Now, 1260 miles separate them, though social media binds them together.

Bob and his boys.
Lots of firehouse stories, laughs and lies!

Amy on guitar.
What you don't see is Leah on her guitar across the room. Both are self taught.

How it all began!
L-R (for those who don't know): Kip and Becky, Julane and Bob, Rob and Tami.

We didn't manage to get a picture of Drew, the youngest of the grands. I think he must have been in the basement watching one of his new DVDs.

We are, of all people, blessed.

HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM THE HIEBERTS
Our prayer for all is that 2018 will be full of blessings heaped up and running over!!

PS.  I realize that some of these pictures go past the boundary, but for this once, please oblige me!
